Offer Pack and Company Information
Congratulations on successfully completing your application process and receiving an official job offer for Kids Duo! Please be sure to have a look through the following information - we hope it will assist you in your decision-making process.

Messages from Our Staff

Kids Duo Chief Trainer

Welcome!
Great to see that you are interested in joining the Kids Duo teaching team! My name is Wesley Christenson and I will be your Chief Trainer. I am very excited that you have made the bold decision to move to (or further remain in) Japan in order to help its youth learn to communicate English and be more globally conscious.

As a Kids Duo teacher, you will be able to partake in an unconventional approach in getting kids to learn and actually enjoy the process of using a second language while mentoring them to be positive additions to society. That being said, it is imperative to understand that the key to success in making the kids’ and your own experience at Kids Duo a long-lasting and rewarding one is you and only you.

I implore you to come to Kids Duo with a purpose of not just merely teaching English to kids, but to be the English teacher that they want to emulate as they grow up, take on the world, and never forget. Our colleagues in the Hiring Team saw the potential in you to do so, and the Training Team will do everything in our power to make that potential become reality and increase it further.

Safe travels and hope to see you soon!

Wesley Christenson

Our Philosophy

Everyone has an innate “jewel”, that is talent.

We believe that all individuals are born with innate skills and talents, or "jewels".

Our responsibility as educators is to help identify, foster, and polish these skills, and provide our full support to ensure our students can use these skills to perform to the best of their abilities later in life.

The “invisible staircase” enabling the realization of one’s dreams.

Life is like an invisible staircase we all have to climb. We discover our dreams, set goals to achieve them, and then act on our own accord.

By fulfilling the goals students set for themselves, they are further encouraged to set even higher challenges, thereby instilling in them a sense of motivation and self-confidence.

“自分力” – the Power of Independence

By discovering and fostering students' innate jewels, and instilling within them the self-confidence and motivation to set and achieve goals of their own making, we strive to provide students with the "Power of Independence" - the ability the think for oneself, act for oneself, and decide for oneself, and successfully carve out a future of one's own choosing.

On-Boarding / Training Schedule

After accepting an official job offer, candidates can expect to follow the following steps when joining Kids Duo:
1. Visa Acquisition / Renewal Support
For candidates residing overseas, the first step of the employment process will be to obtain a Japanese working visa. Our English-speaking staff is available to assist you throughout the entire process, which typically takes 2-3 months on average depending on various factors.

Candidates already in Japan who require either Visa Renewal or a Visa Change of Status can also expect to receive assistance from our Support Staff.
If you already hold a 'Engineer/Specialist in Humanities' visa or other unrestricted visa type (Spouse, Permanent Resident, etc.), you will be able to begin your employment immediately. Other visa types (Instructor, Student, etc.) will require a visa Change of Status, which typically takes about 4-6 weeks on average.
2. Housing / Relocation Support
Candidates relocating from overseas or from different regions within Japan are also offered accommodation support.

We provide our assistance in securing accommodation in either a single-occupancy apartment or social living space, depending on your preferences and availability.

(Please note that provided accommodation is not subsidized housing, and therefore does not include financial support.)
3. Contract Signing / On-Boarding
An on-boarding session will be held either online or in-person to complete your contract signing and other necessary paperwork, and to review company details and policies as well.
4. Online Training (1 week)
Employment at Kids Duo begins with 1 week of paid online training conducted by our training staff, and includes a comprehensive introduction to our teaching methods, philosophy, lesson schedule, and more.
5. On-The-Job Training (2 weeks)
Paid training continues with 2 weeks of On-The-Job training at one of our designated training schools. New teachers will have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers and practice teaching themselves alongside training staff as well.
6. School Assignment
After completing training, you are now ready to start your new role as teacher at your assigned school. We can't wait to see all that you will accomplish as you make a positive impact on the lives of your students. Welcome to the team!

Frequently Asked Questions

実際の公開ページでは回答部分が閉じた状態で表示されます。
  • How long is a contract with Kids Duo?

Kids Duo offers 1-year renewable contracts. There is no limit to the number of times you can renew your contract.
We require a minimum commitment of 1 full year.

  • Will I be assigned to just one school, or work at several locations?

The vast majority of our Kids Duo teachers are assigned to just one school location, and very rarely travel to or assist at other schools. If the position involves working at multiple branches (cover teacher, etc.), this will have been specified during your application process.
  • Is there the possibility of changing school brands after I start at Kids Duo?

Changing school brands is a fairly rare occurance for our teachers, but is sometimes a possibility for more experienced staff who are interested in seeking new opportunities while staying within the Yaruki Switch Group family.
Please note that this would involves reattending training for the respective new brand, as the teaching methodology and lesson structure varies between schools.
  • If my visa process gets delayed, how long will I have to wait before the next opportunity to join training?

Kids Duo training is held on a month-to-month basis, so rest assured that your on-boarding schedule can be adjusted if necessary and without any extended delays.
  • I'm coming to Japan from overseas. How much money do you recommend I bring with me?

This depends somewhat on personal lifestyle and daily expenses, but we recommend bringing at least $2000~$3000 to cover the initial costs associated with relocating (furnishings/initial fees for acommodation, purchasing a new mobile phone if necessary, food/transportation costs for the first month before receiving your initial paycheck, etc.)
